Captain
Simian |
Captain
Simian's
appearance is one of the better ones of
the bunch. Aside for a larger, more
primate-like, jaw, he looks very much
like he appears in the series. All the
primate figures except Spydor have
gripping hands and feet. |
|
|
The Captain's
stunner is stored on his leg. |
|
|
The American
package titles him
"Heroic Leader," and lists the "Power
Weapons": "Laser Rifle," "Stun
Gun," and Insta-Vine. |
|
Cheap fun
alert: All the American figures can spin around
in the package. |
|
The top
half of the American package's flip side
is identical for each figure. It includes the
Speed Peeler and Psy-Fighter in the list, but
I've never found any evidence that Mattel
released them in the U.S. The information in the
botom half in mostly correct, although I think
four decades is a better estimate than three. |

|
Captain
Simian is the only figure that includes a stunner. |
|
This "Laser Rifle"
has nothing to do with lasers. It fires two hook-shaped
projectiles (one at a time). It's too big for the
figure to hold without falling over. This rifle
had a brief appearance in "Ape-pocalypse
Now!" |
|
There's
also an Insta-Vine (which
is tough to keep unfolded). It gives the Captain
the ability to hang on pretty much anything. |
